It is essential to protect your baby or child from the sun
Your child's skin is immature, which makes it especially sensitive to the sun and its UV rays. The skin has a memory, and damage caused by the sun during childhood is irreversible, cumulative and often only revealed during adulthood. Before the age of 18 years, a teenager will have received about 50% of the solar radiation he will receive throughout his life. The sun can damage the skin on the surface (sunburn, etc.) or more deeply (changes to epidermal cells and their genetic heritage, changes to immune cells, etc.). Despite the fact that direct sun exposure is not at all recommended for children under 3, it is sometimes difficult to prevent it. Therefore, it is necessary to limit sun exposure and protect the skin of babies and children, using products formulated especially for them.

In 2004, Mustela is taking a new step in sun protection by providing the first fragrance-free sun protection line combining :
A surface sun protection with 100% mineral or organic-mineral non-penetrating sunscreens which ensure reinforced protection against a wide spectrum of UVA (long and short), UVB and infrared rays. Mustela Sun Protection products do not contain chemical filters.
A double cellular protection because protection against sunburns is not enough. Mustela Sun Protection products also help preserve:

- the cellular integrity by repairing the cellular damage caused by exposure to the sun with the unique combination of zinc salts and Vitamin E paired with natural active ingredients (Aloe vera and Soy Phytosterols).
Specially formulated for babies and children, Mustela Sun Protection provides products adapted for each one:
For babies: Very high protection sun lotion SPF 50, with 100% mineral sunscreens, ensures optimum tolerance and safety for baby’s immature and delicate skin, whatever the sun conditions are.
For children: More mobile, they need higher SPF protection and practical products which allow for an easy and quick application :
- High protection sun lotion SPF 50, indispensable during first sun exposure and intense sun conditions.
- Very high protection sun spray SPF 25, very practical, in moderate sun conditions and an alternative to SPF 50+.
For babies and children:
- In complement, Stick SPF 20 is extremely practical for touch-ups on areas that are particularly exposed and sensitive (nose, checks, forehead, chin…)
- Hydrating* after sun lotion is indispensable to calm heat sensations, nourish and soothe the skin of babies and children, after sun exposure.
Hypoallergenic** and high skin tolerance, Mustela Sun Protection products can be used by atopic persons. For optimal protection, Mustela Sun Protection products are waterproof and sweatproof.
Some advice for a better protection:
It is recommended not to expose children under 3 to the sun.
Sunburns are dangerous, especially for babies and children.
Reapply the sun protection product at least every 2 hours.
Avoid exposing children to the sun during the hours when it is the strongest (between 12 noon and 4 p.m.).
Complete sun protection must include a sun lotion, hat, T-shirt and sunglasses.
Avoid using perfumes and scented sun protection products that may be photosensitizing.
Use sun protection products that are adapted to your child’s skin and the sun conditions (season, time, latitude).
